Policies and Procedures

Visiting before or after class session.

As the teacher of your child, I am always delighted to speak with you about your child’s progress or any concerns you may have.  I will schedule a conference time if needed. I do request that you try and limit your time to 15 min for pick-up and drop off. I have an open door policy. You may call or stop by at any time during preschool hours. Keep in mind that this may also cause a distraction to the classroom so please be respectful and observe quietly.

Sign-in and sign out procedures.

A Parent/ guardian or authorized person must sign in and out using their full name. The time of arrival and departure is required. I will only release children to authorized adults on the registration form, unless given written permission by the adult who enrolled the child. Identification will be required.

I will not release a child to parents or any person who appears to be under the influence of drugs / alcohol.

Treatment of Illness.

1. A child who has been ill within 24 hours or has an elevated temperature (over 100 degrees) and is contagious needs to remain at home. Symptoms that would necessitate exclusion from preschool include vomiting, diarrhea, undiagnosed rash, pink eye, unusual tiredness and lethargy. If a child becomes ill during preschool hours he or she will be made comfortable while a parent is called to pick up the ill child.

2. In the case of a major medical emergency 911 will be called first then child’s guardian. First Aid and CPR will be applied, as needed. Any minor fall, bump, bruise or accident that happens during the day will be treated with First Aid and parent notified at the end of class. 1 2 Buckle My Shoe preschool will not be liable for any accidents or injury that occur during preschool hours.

3. I am legally required to report any instance of suspected child abuse, neglect or exploitation to Child Protective Services and law enforcement without notice to the parent.

4. Each parent must provide a written consent authorizing emergency treatment in the event a parent cannot be reached during a medical situation.

Fire Drills & Safety Measures

We will have discussions on fire safety and other emergencies that may occur. To accompany the lesson, we will have a fire drill. In the event of a real emergency the children will be escorted to the front door and across the street.
