Program information

1 2 Buckle My Shoe Preschool runs September  through June. I follow Northwest Christian School Calendar which includes days off, holidays and school closures due to inclement weather. In cases of school delays, Preschool will start at usual time.

 

 

Daily Routine

 

9:30-10:30 (Free play) This includes themed 

​

learning toys, science and art time. 

 

10:30-10:40 (Clean up/ Bathroom time.)  

 

10:40-11:00 (Circle time)

​

11:00-11:25 (Worksheets)

11:25-11:45 (Cooking/Snack)

11:45-12:00 (Outdoor playground and feeding/ observing rabbits or indoor music and games.) 

 

What we do at 1 2 

Buckle My Shoe Preschool

 

Free Play: This a time when children get to decide for themselves what they would like to do. All my toys/ activities are for learning purposes. I always include art, Science/discovery & exploration.

 
Circle Times: This is when we learn all about our daily theme. Circle time is filled with storybooks, puppets, flannel activities, finger plays, songs & poems. We go over our calendar, letter, color, shape and number of the week.

Worksheets: These include themed materials, writing, math, letters, colors, shapes, cut and paste, patterns ect.

Art: We do a daily themed art project. Which includes crafts, painting, and a ton of fun creativity. 

Baking / cooking: I do monthly homemade cooking with the children. which is often based on our daily theme.

Music : Musical games, dance, instruments and songs.

Outdoor play: Children get fresh air; use their large motor skills with balancing and climbing. Draw with chalk and just run. We do games and activities outside that go along with our themed curriculum. I also have rabbits that the children get to feed and pet. 

 

We have seven exploration centers.

 

Dramatic play=House, Kitchen, Dress up, baby dolls, puppets. 

Manipulatives=Puzzles, games, lacing, gears ect.

A Sensory/Science area=Sensory box, Play dough, flubber and other themed science experiments. 

The block area=Building Toys, Legos, Bristle blocks and magnets. 

Writing center/Art=Tracing pages, handwriting, painting, coloring and cutting.

Imagination Station=Cars, Action figures, Dinosaurs ect.

Reading /Quiet center=Books of all kinds and time to relax and take a 
breather.
